Archeological Reserve Zawodzie - archaeological reserve in Kalisz, at Zawodzie, a branch of the District Museum of the Kalisz Region in Kalisz; documents the history of archaeological research conducted in the early medieval town at Zawodzie. The first settlement on Zawodzie was erected in the years 850-860.
The main part of the archaeological reserve is a partly reconstructed castle, surrounded by a defensive wall, reaching 5 meters in height. The first mention of the castle was made in 1106 in the chronicle of Gallus Anonymus. Archaeological research on the remains of the city began in 1903 Włodzimierz Demetrykiewicz. Another one, in connection with the 1800th anniversary of the city, was conducted in the years 1958-1965. As a result, relics of the palatium, collegiate church of St. Paweł Apostoł, churchyard cemetery, defensive constructions.

Cathedral of St. Mikołaj Biskupa in Kalisz - a church erected in the years 1253-1257 in the Gothic style from the foundation of Bolesław the Pious. Rebuilt many times. It has three aisles, a tower and a chapel in the neo-Gothic style, decorated with paintings and stained glass windows by Włodzimierz Tetmajer. Baroque main altar, erected in 1662. In 1992, the church raised by John Paul II to the rank of the cathedral of the Diocese of Kalisz. It is located at ul. Kanonicka 5. Ingres the first bishop of Kalisz Andrzej Wołłowicz to the church of Saint. Nicholas Bishop in Kalisz took place on July 4, 1819. On December 14, 1973 [3], the image of Peter Paul Rubens was stolen from the church.
