Jurassic Fortresses Trail

SEE ALL MEDIEVAL JURASSIC FORTRESSES

Trail of Jurassic Fortresses is a blue walking trail with a length of 152 kilometers, which runs through the territories of the Kraków-CzÄ™stochowa Upland. In many places the route crosses the Eagles' Nests Trail. This route includes many strongholds that were not covered by the famous route of defense castles established by Casimir the Great. On the route, we can see, among others, castles in Morsk, Ogrodzieniec, Ostrężnik, Ojców, as well as Ojcowski National Park and several important nature reserves.

The Jurassic Fortresses Trail to the Ojcowski National Park enters from the west, then the final section of the Czajowice village, the Ciasne SkaÅ‚ki ravine and from the Krakowska Gate, from where a beautiful view can be seen and the massif of the Crown Mountain. Then the trail runs together with the red trail of the PrÄ…dnik Valley through Ojców to Grodzisk and SkaÅ‚a. The trail has an area of 8 km in the OPN area.
The route begins in the village of Rudawy near Kraków, while its end is in Mstów a short distance from CzÄ™stochowa. Such and not a different location makes the place quite often visited by tourists, as well as residents of Silesia and MaÅ‚opolska.

In the area, the village of Olsztyn is located, in which we will be able to see a magnificent castle towering above the mentioned town. It is worth remembering that this route is marked in blue and it is better to stick to it if you do not want to get lost.

A short distance from the monastery located in Grodzisk is Ojcowski National Park, which we recommend to visit. It has been around since 1956 and is in the group of 23 parks that are in our country. The main attraction of this park are mainly rocks, many of which are overgrown with algae.

An interesting rock is undoubtedly the Hercules Club with its shape resembling nothing but the weapon that Hercules once used. Thanks to limestone rocks it was possible to easily tunnel tunnels. Caves, which are very interesting here and will interest not only die-hard speleologists, but those who just became interested in this form of sightseeing.

The number of castles in the area is really impressive and it can take a lot of time to see them all. We should definitely see the Ogrodzieniec Castle, a large part of which has survived to this day and is a great attraction for tourists.
