Medieval strongholds still hide many secrets and attract with their charm. Holidays in Warmia and Mazury is a great opportunity to visit some of them.
Despite many war actions and destructions, Poland still boasts well-preserved or partly reconstructed castles built in the Gothic style. Medieval architecture, with towering towers and red brick, evokes a magical atmosphere, and at the same time gives the opportunity to directly experience history. Especially since most of these castles are located in very attractive tourist locations. So it is a good way to let him acquire new knowledge during the holidays with the child. And medieval knights can act on the imagination.
There are several castles from Warmia, Mazury and Kashubia on the route. These are the bishops' castles, Teutonic castles and church chapels. These include such well-known buildings as the largest Teutonic Castle in Europe in Malbork, the Warmian Chapter Castle in Olsztyn, the Warmian Bishops' Castle in Lidzbark WarmiÅ„ski or the Teutonic Castle in Gniew. But on the trail there are also castles from typically holiday resorts in Masuria, such as the Teutonic castles in Nidzica, Ostróda or KÄ™trzyn. The communes, in which the castles are located, formed the association "Polish Gothic Castles". Thanks to funds from the European Regional Development Fund, it is planned to extend the project to Lithuania and the Kaliningrad District. The route will be joined by objects like the Teutonic castles in Klaipeda or Bagrationovsk (here the Grand Master of the Order Konrad Wallenrod resided, whose literary form was later transformed by Adam Mickiewicz). The revitalization of several castles is also planned. In this way, a very interesting cross-border tourist route will be created, connecting the castles linked by history.

The attractions on the trail are not only medieval walls and chambers, but also events organized in the castle's podiums, be it tournaments and knight shows, old music concerts, crafts and crafts shows, fairs and fairs. All this means that you are moving your body and spirit to the times of the Knights of the Cross, knights and ladies of the court.

The Gothic Castles Trail in Pomerania is an extremely popular tourist route designated in northern Poland. It includes the Gothic castles of Warmia, Mazury, Powiśle and Kashubia. Among the objects are the Teutonic, Bishop and Chapter buildings. Traveling this route will allow you to move into the world of medieval culture and tradition.
