A road pole in Konin - a stone pole in Konin, Romanesque, set in 1151 halfway from Kruszwica to Kalisz, considered the oldest road sign in Poland. The pole is located approx. 52 km from each city. He was moved from under the Konin castle to the corner of the church of St. Bartholomew. The pillar is forged from sandstone and is approx. 2.5 m high. On the pole there is a Latin inscription (translated by Krzysztof Dunin-WÄ…sowicz):

Of the Incarnation of the Lord 1151
to Kalisz from Kruszwica there is a point here,
this is indicated by the formula of way and justice,
which was made by palatat Piotr
and he halved this path carefully,
to make him memorable,
please pray to every traveler
gracious God.

The origin of the pillar is not explained (there are theories about his pagan origins). The form of the palatine mentioned in the formula is unknown. Some (eg Jan Długosz) identify him with Piotr Włostowic - the founder of 77 churches. According to the other two hypotheses, the founder was Piotr Wszeborowic, palatine Bolesław Kędzierzawego or his father koms Wszebor, palatine Bolesław Krzywousty.
