THE CASTLE IN MIRÓW

Most probably, before the founding of the 14th century castle, there was a wooden castle that was supposed to protect the borders of the country before the invasion of the Czech Republic. Casimir building was built in a short time to the size of a large fort. The castle went from hand to hand several times. At first he belonged to the Koziegłowski Lisa, later, from the 15th century, to the Myszkowskis. In their day there were significant changes in the appearance of the building, which gained two additional floors and much higher tower than before. In 1587 the castle was captured by Archduke Maximilian Habsburg, a pretender to the Polish throne. Since then, the process of gradual decline of the fortress began. In the seventeenth century after Myszkowskis were the representatives of successive families: Koryciński and Męciński. After the destruction of the Swedish Deluge, the castle became more and more ruined until it was abandoned at the end of the 18th century.

The ruins were systematically dismantled by the inhabitants of the surrounding villages, which stone used to build houses. Interestingly, in the communist era, the ruins of the castle were not formally taken over by the state. The deteriorating condition of the facility, which poses a threat to visitors, has caused it to be fenced in the last few years. At the same time, the Lasecki family, present owners, undertook work on securing the ruins. The fortress is expected to be open to the public. The reconstructed rooms will include a museum. The Eagle's Nest can be reached from the nearby Bobolice Castle or by hiking in other attractive areas of this part of the Jura. Taking the most famous Jurassic route to Cracow, in less than a few hours we will reach the Zborow Mountains and the Morsk Castle. In the direction of Czestochowa, the Eagle's Nest Trail leads to the valley of Wiercica in less than a day.
