THE CASTLE IN OJCÓW (FATHERS)
When you reach Ojcow, you will see from the distance the ruins of a castle located on a high rock on the right side of the road.
The Castle of Ojców was built by Casimir the Great. The Cracow-Wrocław fortification near the trade route was an important point of control of the trade route. Until the end of the Republic of Poland, it was the seat of the Starost. In the 16th century There was Jan Boner, and in the 18th century the Lubinski and Załuski families. Originally the castle consisted of two parts. The first was a residential building and courtyard with a deep, well-chiseled rock. The second, irregular part of the castle, with its characteristic tower, rested on a slightly higher rocky outcrop. In the middle of the 17th century, a third element was erected - a residential building, situated on a south-facing rock, far beyond the outskirts of the defensive wall.
Above the castle was a high stone tower, which, as a result of the reconstruction in the nineteenth century, was significantly reduced. The entrance was taken by a bridge based on visible pillars and an oak gates. In the middle of the 19th century the castle was demolished for reconstruction but the reconstruction itself was not completed. In addition to the previously mentioned tower, the only preserved part is the gate tower built in neo-gothic style at the end of the 19th century.
At the foot of the romantic castle mountain, along the whole of the Praděd Valley, in the 19th century a fashionable health resort was built, hosting many celebrities. It is worth stopping here to be able to accurately trace all available paths to tourists and explore other tourist attractions, including local caves. In turn we go south to Prądnik Korzkiewski and the castle in Korzkiew.
